Artist Leader Spotlight on Keith Williams

Posted By on Apr 23, 2015 | 0 comments

Holy Week brought with it a number of really great conversations with some of the artists and leaders who will be joining us at the Faith Creative this summer. The big news is that we’ve added Dr. Dawn RundmanJonathan Rundman, and Keith Williams to our growing list of artist/leader/presenters.  You can read a bit about them all here, and I’d like to take a few moments to tell you more about Keith Williams. He is an artist and teacher in the Twin Cities. I’ve known Keith for over 20 years and we’ve had the opportunity to work together a number of times at national youth gatherings and individual congregations. Here are a few photos of us working collaboratively at a church in Peoria, Illinois in 2004:

Keith is skilled in a number of areas. He’s not only a visual artist, he’s a musician and composer. We got together on Maundy Thursday after he presented an original composition in a worship service. He’s created some great liturgical art as well, like this baptismal font and altar…

What’s really got me excited about your interaction with Keith at the Faith Creative is that Keith is going to give every participant an opportunity to form, glaze, and fire their own clay creation in a kiln that we will build on site at Heartwood! This is something we’ve never been able to do with Keith in our past partnerships because we’ve never had the right balance of time and space. The Faith Creative gives us not only the time and space to be creative but also the expert leadership of skilled artists like Keith! This is going to be really fun… I can’t wait for you to meet Keith! If you’re ready to join us in August the first step is to register online.

Let me know your thoughts. I’m sure there are lots of questions that I’ve not thought to answer. I’d love to continue to answer them in a personal email. Thanks for reading and sharing this great news with your community. There’s more to come!

…I’m such a fan of Keith’s work that I can’t resist ending this email with a few more images of his work. I just know he’s one of the many reasons the Faith Creative is going to be one of the most memorable things we’ll get to be a part of this summer!
